DESCRIPTION:
APW - Seth Thomas, Grade 382, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase with attractive engine turning and engraving detail to rear, white enamel DS impressed dial, SW-LS, "Adjusted 5 Positions" marked mvt, two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, s#223615. A scarce and attractive Model 5 movement, the Grade 382 would have been considered railroad grade to lines which accepted 17 jewel watches for service.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent two-tone color, some mild toning to portions of nickel regions of plates, few scattered micro-fine scratches, minor oxide to regulator assembly, some loss of black color to serial number; dial with profuse hls with majority emanating from a cluster near 4, few fine scratches within seconds-register, edge chip at 9:30, some as-made surface pitting to seconds-register and center section; excellent mismatched hands, hour and minute are blue, seconds-hand is plum colored; case shows very light wear, dent to band at 9:30 with numerous associated surface dings, slightly reduced engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with some short scratches.
